Shri Balasaheb Thackeray has always been much more than just a father-in- law to me. He was my mentor and motivator. When I decided to take my passion of social work a step ahead, my father-in- law smiled at me and said, “I was in your place once, and I will give you the same advice that my father gave. Start an organization, a foundation for your work.”
Very soon the foundation took shape, but we were still looking for an apt name for it. One day, he took a piece of paper and began to draw a dove which represents freedom and wrote the name of this foundation in its wings. He beamed with an answer, “Mukkti- Freedom”.
It has always been this faith and support from my father-in- law and all the well-wishers, that encouraged me to spread my wings and take Mukkti to the next level. I will always be grateful to my father-in- law, Balasaheb Thackeray, for gifting me Mukkti.”
